Design that shifts the status quo.
Hi! My name is Roleen. The focus of my work lies at the intersection of materials research, circularity and strategic design for ecological and community health.
If you have a project or collaboration that you think I’d be a great fit for, I’d love to hear from you!
Current Materials Design Project
I’m researching local materials in the Philippines that have the potential of being safer for marine ecosystems…
Who started Impluho?
Me! Roleen Gail Sevillena. I’ve been exploring what it means to design in responsible, just and inclusive ways for both humans and non-human beings. I would define my materials research and design practice as place-based and systemic in its approach.
In the Tagalog language, impluho is the ability of a person or thing to affect others in ways that are direct or indirect. Given that all designs have this ability to affect, I have cultivated practices of deep inquiry and engagement with others to better inform my design decisions and outcomes.
